Google for some reason uses the statistics from Alexa when deciding the importance of any website.

Now that  you have a back door into the Google system, It is necessary for you to get visitors to your site and fast. ( you need approx 2,000 visitors a month for Alexa to acknowledge you.

Using Free Auto Traffic Exchanges is the Quickest and simplest way to do this.

Below is a list of my 20 Favourite Traffic Exchanges which i use for this purpose.

Join 10 the first week and surf as much as you can to gain as many credits as you can, then the following week, join the others.  ( remember you need to keep surfing)

You should see rapid improvement in your Alexa Rank after about 3 days.

Use Mozilla Firefox as your browswer and you should be able to surf 10 sites at a time

This list is continously changing , some sites giving more hits while others reducing the amount of hits you get.

 There are several types of links: 

one-way (which Google and Yahoo  favour), but only if they come from quality and relevant sites.

Dmoz    is a must. but it can take months for them to list you.

reciprocol (you link to me, I link to you), These are fine with google and yahoo but again they must come from quality and relevant sites.. As Kings don't normally dine with paupers. sites with good PR won't link to sites with a 0 PR. and since Google and the other Search Engines put such a high regard on Quality back links, you need a good PR to break out of this vicious circle

Auto link exchange programs are frowned upon by google and will reduce the value of your site

Purchased Links are a very expensive way to get back links , For the moment google is being very ambiguous about how they treat sites with these links.

Links in 

Irevalent Links  gain you very little value on google but won't do you any harm as long as you are not linking back to them, and may even gain you the odd visitor or two.

Where as at Alexa. Links in are considered a form of traffic. the more the merrier.
